Senior Product Development Engineer
Job Summary:
The Senior Product Development Engineer reports directly to the Director of Product Development and designs and develops medical devices / drug delivery systems including mechanical designs, selection of materials, product testing and works with manufacturing engineering and suppliers to develop manufacturing processes. 
Essential Job Functions:
  • Support and lead projects to develop and design new products for the company
  • Develop target product specifications using input from marketing, sales, clinical, finance, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Lead designers and design engineers in projects in developing technical solutions.
  • Define technical solutions for product development. Research and create new and unique solutions to product design problems.
  • Generate product models, concept layouts and prints using CAD software.
  • Complete cost analysis and cost projections.
  • Create necessary product documentation to assure FDA compliance and support submissions.
  • Transfer robust products and processes to Engineering and Manufacturing 
  • Support the Director of Product Development by continuously improving all aspects of product development and by anticipating problems, providing input on solutions, reacting productively to change, and by handling other tasks as assigned.
 
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.  Minimum of 10 years of experience in product development with extensive experience in testing and selection of material for biocompatibility and sterilization, especially plastics.Experience in the mechanical design and development of complex delivery systems for single use medical devices is required.  Applicable ISO and FDA experience is high desirable.  PC literate in Microsoft Office applications, including SolidWorks, Microsoft Project, Word and EXCEL.
